pull the plug on porn

I put this letter in the mail today and hope to hear back:

Dear Mr. Allen Smith,

We've had the great privilege of staying at several of your amazing hotels.  We think the Four Seasons are the most luxurious on the planet.

My husband's company often uses your properties for their incentive trips. We've been blessed to stay at the Four Seasons in Maui; on the big island of Hawaii; in Munich, Germany; Peninsula, Papagayo, Costa Rica; Dublin, Ireland; and the island of Nevis.

We recently checked in at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis for three fabulous nights to celebrate my birthday. We had a spectacular corner room that looked over the Mississippi River and the Arch. There's no time we feel more rested and spoiled than after a visit. I applaud you and your entire staff for consistently making the Four Seasons Resorts exemplary.

I did notice something while we were in Missouri, though, that I want to bring to your attention—the fact that your room TVs still offer "adult entertainment." I'm disappointed, as I believed your company was forward thinking, wanting to represent the best for all people. Are you aware that viewing pornography has a direct correlation with the crime of sex trafficking and sex slavery of young girls, boys, and women around the globe?I'm praying that you and your fellow board members would take a look at this important issue and see why Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton (among others) have made the decision to get rid of pornography as a selection.

I urge you to disassociate with an industry that's connected to human trafficking and the slavery of hundreds of thousands (in conservative estimates) of victims throughout the world. A few of the worst countries in terms of human trafficking, such as Thailand, Egypt, and China, are home to one or more Four Seasons. I'm certain your employees in these locations are in some way affected, directly or indirectly, by this dire problem.

I'm a wife and mom and the thought of what happens to enslaved girls and boys haunts me. The enormity of this problem may make us wonder if there's anything that can really be done, but obviously inaction will never make a shift.

So I'm writing with a prayer that you'd consider my words and take a public stand. Obviously, there would be financial implications, but making a decision not to profit from entertainment that's steeped in crime and abuse would be nothing but beneficial to your corporation and each person associated with it.

Thank you for your time and taking this matter to heart. I'd love to hear back from you.

God bless you and yours in 2016.

Sincerely,

Debbie Prather

I applaud Angela for her courage. This terrible issue effects every one of us as we share this life together. We must all get involved for changes to take place, and I hope this encourages you to fight for others!

1 Peter 4:2-3  "And you won't spend the rest of your life chasing after evil desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.  You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy-their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols."
