grace abounds

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.”

It took us time to get this right.

I wish I could go back to our early days of marriage, knowing all that we know now. There were moments we had disagreements or fights about things that seem laughable in this current moment.

But we didn’t know what we didn’t know, and God was working in us, bringing us to new heights.

Just as it takes years for children to develop their adult brains, not understanding the world in the ways they will later, growing pains can and do occur for many of us in young/new situations, circumstances, and relationships.

The first paragraph above is 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, words worth aspiring to. It’s never easy, but—with commitment, faith, maturity, and dedication—we can behave with supernatural grace because the Lord gives us the ability to.

In this way, our lives become not about our wants and desires but what God wants and desires for our lives and what He would have us do with the hours and talents we’re given.

We are to love Him and love others.

We do this by being patient and kind and not being jealous, boastful, proud, or rude.

We do this by not demanding our own way, not being irritable, and not keeping record of wrongs.

My prayer for myself, my family, and each of us as we continue to navigate this pandemic is that we take each day as it comes and never for granted, a beautiful gift and a new opportunity to learn and grow and do and be a little better than the day before.

There’s no time like the present to give it all we’ve got ... His merciful grace abounds.
